Your Body

Muscle Activation  ‘Be Activated’

Our body has two priorities for survival; breathing and movement. The body finds ways to meet these priorities at all costs, including sacrificing function. When function is compromised, measurable reductions in strength, power, flexibility and endurance often occur, leaving our bodies less resilient. This may result in poor performance, loss of energy, chronic pain and dysfunction.

Muscle Activation is a simple system that helps reverse this pattern. The body reacts immediately, shifting towards strength, resilience and speed. It is a powerful ‘game-changer’ for athletes (enhancing performance), as well as a release for non-athletes by reducing stress, muscle tension and pain as the body reverts back to a strong functional state.

Personal Training

Postural Assessment and Correction

Posture is the position in which the body is held upright against gravity whilst standing, sitting or lying down. Good, or neutral, posture is the body’s ability to stand, walk, sit and lie in positions where the least strain is placed upon the supporting muscles and ligaments. The stress that poor posture places on the body can lead to anatomical changes in the spine leading to back pain and increased risk of injury. Being mindful of good alignment allows the body to move more efficiently.

Once your posture is assessed, specific corrective exercises will be prescribed (if necessary) to bring your body back into alignment, reducing the chance of injury, pain and dysfunction.

Exercise Programme

To ensure you receive a highly personalised programme, the initial consultation may take up to two hours. The more information gathered, the more tailored your programme will be to meet your individual needs. It will not only be relevant but also constantly evolving to reflect the changeable nature of your life and also your body’s ability to adapt to the new demands being placed upon it.

Bowen Therapy

Bowen is a hands-on remedial therapy involving the specific movement of soft tissue. The therapy uses rolling-type movements of the thumb and forefingers, designed to stimulate the tissues and nerve pathways, creating a focus for the brain. If the client is lying down, the immediate response is nearly always rapid and deep relaxation. The reaction to Bowen in the days following a treatment can often belie its soft and gentle approach. Stiffness, soreness and headaches are common, demonstrating that the brain and body have started the process of repair. This process is generally rapid and it is not uncommon for even longstanding pain to be reduced or resolved within two or three treatments.

Although musculoskeletal problems such as frozen shoulder, back and neck pain account for the majority of conditions brought for Bowen treatment, it can also be helpful with more organic problems. Clients have reported significant improvements with issues such as asthma, migraines, irritable bowel, infertility and psychological problems.
